Pupils, workers besiege FCTA over school closure, unpaid salary as minister Wike battles massive land looting scandal
Schoolchildren and workers in the Federal Capital Territory besieged the Federal Capital Territory Administration office on Wednesday, over prolonged strike, demanding the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to meet their demands.
The schoolchildren asked Mr Wike, currently enmeshed in massive land looting scandal exclusively exposed by Peoples Gazette, to reopen their schools, while teachers and other FCTA workers demanded payment of their allowances and salaries.
Converging on the entrance of FCTA at Area 11, Abuja, the schoolchildren held placards demanding to press home their demand, while workers chanted solidarity songs.
“Please don’t kill our future. Send us back to school,” a banner held by some school children read. Workers on their part chanted, “How many workers Wike go kill ooo,” a solidarity song lamenting their plight over nonpayment of their wages and salaries.
The protest coordinated by Joint Union Action Committee is against nonpayment of AEPB enforcement squad, inaccessibility of the salary portal to salary desk officers, withheld salaries and allowances of workers for over six months amongst others.
