Ramadan: Kano Hisbah arrests 11 for eating at daytime
Hisbah in Kano State arrested 11 citizens on Thursday for not observing the Ramadan fast.
Three men and eight women were arrested for eating in the afternoon in the state while others were fasting.
“The Chairman of the Board, Dr. Aliyu Musa Kibiya said they were investigating those who were not fasting to find out their motives,” the BBC reported.
Ramadan, an annual religious exercise, is mandatory for Muslims adults.
In 2016, Francis Emmanuel, was attacked in Kaduna State by some youth for eating in the afternoon during the Ramadan fast. The police investigated the matter but no suspects were arrested or charged.
