Return to APGA, youth leader urges Abia governor

The National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Eze Chukwu, has called on the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to return to the party.
Mr Chukwu, who made the call in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, described APGA as Mr Otti’s “true political home,” reminding him that the party once embodied his political aspirations and provided the platform for his past electoral victories.
He stressed that Mr Otti’s leadership style, people-oriented reforms, and reform-driven agenda align closely with the ideals and governance philosophy APGA had upheld since its founding.
The youth leader highlighted the party’s mantra of being one’s brothers’ and sisters’ keeper, noting that Mr Otti’s approach to governance reflects these core APGA values.
Mr Chukwu said that APGA maintains a cordial relationship with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), positioning the party as a partner in progress rather than an adversary.
He warned that joining another political party at this stage could expose Mr Otti to unnecessary political challenges, while returning to APGA would safeguard his interests and agenda.
Mr Chukwu noted that Mr Otti’s friend and Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo Charles, already maintains a productive relationship with President Bola Tinubu, which strengthens APGA’s position as a safe political platform.
He said APGA’s leadership is youthful, dynamic, forward-thinking, committed to growth, progressive policies, and alignment with national governance objectives.
The youth leader appealed to Mr Otti to reunite with the party, stressing that APGA has historically supported his political journey and understands his vision and strengths.
Mr Chukwu described the party as the political identity of Ndigbo, founded by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, and emphasised its role in advancing the South-East’s influence.
He argued that collaboration between Messrs Otti and Soludo within APGA could make the party a major political force, promoting unity and development in the South-East and Nigeria.
The youth leader noted that APGA has consistently offered a platform for leaders delivering progressive governance and people-oriented reforms, a natural home for Mr Otti’s political identity.
Mr Chukwu further urged Mr Otti to consider that APGA is trusted by the electorate, maintains cordial relations with the ruling party, and shields its members from unnecessary political harassment.
He emphasised that returning to APGA would strengthen both the party and the political relevance of the South-East within Nigeria’s broader national political structure.
The APGA youth leader appealed for careful reflection, reminding Mr Otti that the party is aligned with his governance philosophy and shares a commitment to discipline, reform, and people-focused leadership.
Mr Chukwu also stated that APGA’s current leadership is competent and visionary, capable of supporting Mr Otti’s second tenure and providing a platform for his progressive agenda.
He urged Mr Otti to prioritise familiarity and trust in his political choices, advising him to “choose the devil you know over the angel you are yet to know.”
Mr Chukwu said that APGA remains a political family that understands Mr Otti’s strengths, vision, and political journey, urging him to return and answer the call of history, destiny, and the people.
