The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday said the support the party enjoyed during Saturday’s elections in Rivers, Abuja and Kano proves President Bola Tinubu’s popularity, progressive leadership and public belief in his Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a statement on Sunday by its Lagos State spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the party thanked the electorate for their support, stating that it reaffirms their confidence in the APC-led government.

“The outcome of the by-elections across the affected constituencies stands as a clear and unmistakable referendum on the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the progressive ideals that continue to guide governance in our nation.

“The resounding victories recorded by our candidates reaffirm the confidence of the electorate in the Renewed Hope Agenda and the transformative policies being implemented at both the federal and state levels,” it stated.

The party’s spokesman noted that Nigerians spoke decisively at the ballot box, despite efforts by detractors and opposition figures to misrepresent the country’s direction.

Mr Oladejo noted that the by-election results showed Nigerians recognised Mr Tinubu’s “bold leadership, economic reforms, infrastructural expansion and institutional strengthening”, while also reflecting the people’s “understanding that nation-building requires patience, courage, and continuity”.

Describing opposition groups as uninspiring and unworthy to steer the country’s affairs, the spokesman berated opposition members for quickly resorting to rhetoric and sensationalism instead of offering credible alternatives.

Faulting the opposition’s reliance on social media for citizen engagement, the party noted that social media dominance as a pathway to political activism might be an overrated concept and “an amplified noise” that does not translate into public acceptance at the ballot box.

“The amplified noise of the opposition across digital platforms did not translate into real electoral penetration or public acceptance when it mattered most at the ballot box. Democracy is ultimately decided by voters, not virtual trends. It will take far more than daydreaming, online theatrics, or manufactured outrage to unseat a well-grounded and performance-driven ruling party,” the statement said.

The spokesman added that the recently held elections indicated that “the forthcoming 2027 national elections may well be a walk in the park for the ruling APC, on the strength of its performance and the implicit confidence reposed in it by the Nigerian people.”

The party commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a safe, secure and orderly election exercise.

The party also commended party faithful, campaign teams and volunteers, who engaged in grassroots mobilisation to achieve the feat.

Reaffirming its support for Mr Tinubu’s administration, the party assured commitment to deepening democratic practices, strengthening internal cohesion, and delivering tangible benefits of democracy to all citizens.
