RTEAN cautions motorists against driving vehicles with faulty horns
The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Kwara State chapter has cautioned motorists against driving vehicles with faulty horns, describing the practice as unsafe and dangerous.
The Chairman of RTEAN, AbdulRahman Onikijipa, gave the warning during an interview on Friday in Ilorin.
Mr Onikijipa said that many commercial drivers and other motorists normally operate vehicles with faulty horns, thereby endangering the lives of road users.
He said that it was unsafe and dangerous to drive a vehicle with a faulty horn and should be avoided at all costs.
“Stop taking risks with a faulty horn. It is an essential safety device, not an optional accessory. Driving a vehicle with a faulty horn poses a greater risk to pedestrians, passengers, cyclists and other motorists,” Mr Onikijipa said.
He urged motorists to always inspect and repair their horns regularly, as part of routine vehicle maintenance.
Mr Onikijipa said a functional horn could save lives, prevent accidents and promote safer roads for everyone.
The chairman said that a horn served as an important communication tool on the road, helping to prevent collisions in emergencies and alerting other road users to potential danger.
“Always prioritise safety and comply with road safety regulations and traffic laws,” he said.
