Sallah: 720 FRSC personnel commence special patrol in Sokoto

Yusuf Nadabo, sector commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Sokoto, says 720 personnel and 160 special marshals have commenced special patrol for Eid-Kabir celebrations in the state.
Mr Nababo told journalists on Sunday that seven patrol vehicles had been deployed, in addition to the ambulance and towing vehicles to ensure adequate traffic control in about 120 spots across the state.
He said that the special operation, tagged “Reduction in Road Traffic crashes, Road Traffic Fatalities and Road Injuries,” aimed at ensuring the free flow of traffic and preventing road crashes.
According to him, the operation collaborates with the Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, Hisbah, Sokoto Marshals and other sister agencies to achieve targeted goals.
The sector commander said that the special patrol would also focus on public enlightenment, removal of obstructions on highways and stopping vehicle racing, especially among youths, during the period.
“It was also to pay attention to speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, violation of seat belt use, underage driving, use of phone while driving, drunk driving, route violation and indiscriminate parking.
” The command advises motorists to be extra-careful, plan their journeys properly and cooperate with the officials,” he said.
Mr Nadabo commended the FRSC corps marshall, Boboye Oyayemi, for approving additional vehicles for the command, alongside other activities, to smoothen the command’s activities.
He added that the command had adopted a community approach at all levels to ensure the success of the special patrol and other routine activities.
