Sanwo-Olu congratulates Oyebanji on Ekiti election victory

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State on his landslide victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
He described the victory as a reward for good governance and effective service delivery.
Mr Sanwo-Olu, who is also the chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, said this in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Mr Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the governorship election on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti.
The Lagos governor said Mr Oyebanji’s victory across the 16 local government areas of the state, with 83.54 per cent of the total votes, reflected the governor’s popularity and the confidence reposed in him by the electorate.
Mr Sanwo-Olu urged the Ekiti governor to remain committed to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people during his second term.
The governor, who served as a member of the APC national campaign council for the election, also praised President Bola Tinubu for providing purposeful leadership and driving the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at transforming Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He also commended leaders and members of the APC at the national, state, local government, and ward levels for working in unity to secure the party’s victory in the election.
“I congratulate my dear brother, Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, for emerging victorious in yesterday’s governorship election.
“I also congratulate his running mate, Mrs Monisade Afuye, on her re-election.
“Oyebanji’s victory in the governorship poll with 83.54 per cent of the total votes cast is a reward for performance and outstanding delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti during his first term.
“The result is a clear testament to the trust and confidence the people of Ekiti have in his administration and leadership,” Mr Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor also expressed appreciation to the electorate for their support for the APC.
“I want to thank the good people of Ekiti for their unflinching support and continued belief in our great party, the APC.
“I want to assure you that the ruling party will not disappoint you. We will continue to work for the progress, development and prosperity of our people,” he said.
