Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and the state’s frontline health workers will get the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Gboyega Akosile, the spokesman for Mr. Sanwo-Olu, told Peoples Gazette on Friday.

He said vaccination would be at the Infectious Disease Hospital Yaba.

“Today (Friday), the governor will be receiving his vaccine at IDH, Yaba, between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm.

“The frontline health workers will be the first set of people to receive their vaccine, and that will start between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm,” Mr. Akosile added.

On Wednesday, the governor disclosed that the state government would begin the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine this weekend.

From the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access, the state on Wednesday received the consignment of 507,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, representing the largest share to any state, out of more than 3.9 million doses received by the federal government.

Nigeria is still expecting an additional 42 million approved vaccines, meaning that the state will receive more doses of the vaccines when the next batch arrives.
