An unidentified school principal was fatally stabbed inside a school in southern Cairo after a workplace dispute escalated into violence.

The incident reportedly occurred at Martyr Ashour School in Cairo’s Tora district on Sunday.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect, a school security guard, believed the principal was responsible for a decision to transfer him from his post.

The disagreement reportedly escalated into a heated argument before the guard allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the principal to death.

Police arrested the suspect and recovered the knife, adding that he is in custody pending legal proceedings.

Further inquiries have been launched to establish the full circumstances and motive behind the attack.
