Second UK-based Nigerian Chibueze Chukwurah charged with murder of Taiwo Ekerin

Another UK-based Nigerian, Chibueze Chukwurah, has been charged with murder following an assault in Lewisham that led to the death of Taiwo Ekerin.
UK Metropolitan Police, in a statement on Tuesday, said Mr Chukwurah was arrested and charged with murder after the altercation he had with Mr Ekerin.
According to the police, officers were called to Lewisham High Street at around 4:40 a.m. on May 24 following reports of an altercation.
“Officers attended the scene and discovered a 41-year-old man with a serious head injury,” the police said. “He was treated at the scene by colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.”
However, on May 30, he was sadly pronounced dead.
The police explained that Chibueze Chukwurah, 34, of Royston Road, Glasgow, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday.
Mr Chukwurah appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in police custody.
The accused will next appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
The police had previously arrested and commenced the prosecution of a Nigerian, Maxwell Oguanaya, for his involvement in the murder of Mr Ekerin.
The Ealing Magistrates’ Court ordered that the suspect be remanded in custody and adjourned the case until Tuesday.
