After a week of rigorous scrutiny for some and brief introductions for others, the Senate eventually confirmed 45 of President Bola Tinubu’s 48 nominations for ministerial positions on Monday.

The lawmakers were subjected to a series of voice votes by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of which all but three were confirmed.

The three candidates, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State; Stella Okotete from Delta State, and Abubakar Danladi, the former governor of Taraba State, were yet to be confirmed amid rumours they didn’t scale security screening.

The announcement of the confirmation comes more than a week after Mr Tinubu sent a 28-member list to the red chamber for vetting on July 27.

The Senate received a second list of 19 nominees from Mr Tinubu last Wednesday. Two days later, the President removed Maryam Shetty of Kano State from the list and substituted with Festus Keyamo and Mariya Mahmoud.
