Senators donate salaries to victims of Kaduna drone misfire

The senators also visited the Barau Dikko Hospital, where survivors of the accident were receiving treatment.

Nigerian senators on Sunday donated one-month salaries amounting to N109 million to victims of the December 3 military drone mishap in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The tragedy in Tudun Biri saw dozens killed and many others injured after being hit by a misfire from drones belonging to the Nigerian military.

Ismail Mudashir, the spokesperson to Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, announced the donation on Sunday in Abuja.

He stated that Mr Barau announced the donation at the Kaduna State Government House when he led a Senate delegation to commiserate with the state government and the people earlier in the day.

Mr Mudashir quoted Mr Barau as saying the money would be sent to Governor Uba Sani, who received the delegation, for onward delivery to the victims.

He added that Mr Sani thanked the senators for their kind gesture.

Mr Mudashir listed the delegation as the majority leader, Opeyemi Bamidele; the chief whip, Ali Ndume; the minority leader, Abba Moro; and the deputy minority leader, Kamorudeen Olalere.

Others were Senators Abdulhamid Malam-Madori, Aliyu Bilbis, Ibrahim Bomoi, Ibrahim Lamido, Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, Victor Umeh, Muntari Dandutse, Lawal Usman, and Emmanuel Udende.

Mr Mudashir stated that the senators also visited the Barau Dikko Hospital, where survivors of the accident were receiving treatment.
