The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has commended the security agencies for securing the release of four abducted directors of the Federal Ministry of Defence.

ASCSN President, Shehu Mohammed, said this in a statement jointly signed by the union’s Secretary-General, Joshua Apebo, on Friday in Abuja.

The union said the directors were kidnapped on November 10 while travelling on the Kabba–Lokoja highway to Abuja for promotion examinations.

It said that four of the six victims had regained freedom and were undergoing medical checks.

The union also identified those rescued as Mrs Helen Ezeakor, Mrs Ladoye C.A., Mrs Ngozi Ibeziakor and Mrs Essien Catherine O., while Mrs Emeribe C.A. and Mrs Onwuzurike J.A. are still missing.

The union urged the defence ministry and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining two officials unhurt.

It also renewed its call for decentralising examinations and verification exercises to reduce workers’ exposure to travel-related security risks.

The union commended President Bola Tinubu for efforts to curb insecurity and ensure safer travel for Nigerians.
