Shettima arrives in Maiduguri to inaugurate projects
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Maiduguri, Borno, to inaugurate Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital, a hostel, and 104 staff housing units.
In a post on Friday, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice-president’s spokesman, said Mr Shettima would commission the state’s famous primary and secondary schools.
He noted that the commission would include Kashim Shettima Academy, built by his Foundation to support the education of children from less privileged backgrounds.
“VP Shettima will also commission the famous Yerwa Central Primary and Junior Secondary School in Maiduguri, as well as the Kashim Shettima Academy, built by his Foundation to support the education of children from less privileged backgrounds,” he said.
Mr Nkwocha said that the vice-president has emphasised that poverty should no longer be an excuse for any Nigerian child to miss out on higher education.
He stated that government programmes such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) give students from disadvantaged backgrounds opportunities to pursue their educational aspirations.
