Shopping apps rank second most popular after music apps: Report
New data analysis has recognised shopping apps as the second most popular app used by 78 percent of global users, which immediately falls behind the music apps by only one percent.
HelpCentre app (an online site that helps people answer questions on a product ) in its publication on Tuesday said its team findings on IMI’s DATA showed that shopping had become a habit for consumers across all generations, from Generation Z to Boomers, “yet the majority of people who shop online every day are millennials taking the lead ad 73 percent.”
It said the sudden COVID-19 pandemic inspired many to take a shift to digital, which had a significant impact on consumer behaviour, boosting the downloads of shopping apps and making them rank second in popularity after music apps.
The HelpCenter app’s co-founder Ernestas Petkevicius commented on the future of e-commerce, saying, “We have no doubt that we will see the boom of e-commerce in 2021.
“The competition in prices will be on juggernauts’, like Amazon, side but smaller companies can still work out a better customer experience with the right kind of tools and attitude, and keep on growing their businesses.”
Peoples Gazette learnt the survey was conducted last September 1 through the late part of November 2020, and results were collated from a response of more than 40,000 people across 39 countries.
Infographics of the survey cited by the Gazette showed 77 percent of global Internet users used the weather app, making it the third popular app, while news apps took the fourth position with 74 percent and TV/movie streaming with 73 percent, ranks fifth popular among the internet app users.
Banking apps took the sixth position, used by 72 percent, gaming 69 percent ranking eighth popular apps on the survey, and food and delivery with 68 percent users, taking the ninth position.
Brand apps had 64 percent, ranking 10th on the list, follows by exercise and travel apps, with both drawing the 11th position with 58 percent.
Sports apps were the least of the most popular global use apps, with 54 percent of users.
