Two sisters, Amina Dan-Hadeja and Fatima Dan-Hadeja, on Thursday appeared before a Shari’a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, for allegedly defaming the character of one Sawira Muhammad.

Counsel to the complainant, R.R. Tureta told the court that the sisters met the complainant having a misunderstanding with their younger sister and began to defend their sister.

He said, “In the process, they called the complainant a fornicator who had no root and was fed through unlawful means. This situation made the complainant unease because the statements were made in public.’’

The defendants pleaded not guilty on the charge.

The Judge, Kabir Muhammad, asked Mr Tureta if the complainant had witnesses, and he answered in the affirmative.

The judge referred the case to the police for investigation, and adjourned the case until April 10 for the complainant to present witnesses.
