Six killed in Enugu auto crash

Six people have reportedly died in a ghastly auto crash on Thursday near the CBN bus stop along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Enugu.
Enugu police command Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the fatal crash in a statement.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the Commercial Bus, with registration number: XL 884 ENU, driven by one Simon Umeh (male) and loaded with passengers, was heading to New Market Enugu when it had a head-on collision with the truck coming from the opposite direction while attempting to overtake a smoky vehicle ahead,” said the police.
The statement added, “The lifeless bodies of the driver and the five passengers were taken to the hospital and confirmed dead by doctors, and their corpses were deposited in the mortuary for preservation.”
It stated that five others wounded “are responding to treatment, while the accident vehicles have been recovered to the police station and frantic investigative efforts are being made to arrest the yet-to-be-identified driver of the truck, who fled the scene before the arrival of the police.”
The deceased and victims of the crash were taken to the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, ESUT-Parklane.
