So-Safe corps arrests notorious burglar in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps has arrested a 27-year-old man, Ayobami Akodun, for allegedly vandalising and stealing aluminium windows from residential buildings in Basirimi Street, Kajola Railway Station, Ifo Local Government Area.
The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, in a statement on Monday, through the agency’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, said the suspect, intercepted during a routine patrol on Sunday, attempted to flee but was chased down and apprehended.
“The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 27-year-old man, Ayobami Akodun, for allegedly vandalising and stealing aluminium already installed in some residential buildings in Basirimi Street, Kajola Railway Station, a community in Ifo Local Government Area,” Mr Ganzallo said.
Describing the suspect as a “notorious burglar, specialising in removing aluminium windows from houses within the Arepo Seriki community,” he said, “the suspect was apprehended by officers attached to the Seriki Kajola Divisional Headquarters under Ifo 2 Area Command during an early morning routine patrol.”
Mr Ganzallo added that the suspect “was spotted on the road with some items at about 4:27 a.m. in a suspicious manner. Hence, he was asked to stop, but instead he bolted, and the team of operatives chased him until he was apprehended.
During interrogation, he said the suspect confessed that “he has previously escaped after being arrested on two different occasions before he was finally nabbed,” adding that he thereafter “led our officers to two different houses where he had broken the glass windows to cart away the valuable aluminium frames.”
Mr Ganzallo noted that the suspect has been transferred to the Lemode Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He said So-Safe Corps would continue to keep communities in the state safe, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest office.
