Speed Darlington released from Kuje prison after meeting bail conditions

Nigerian singer Darlington Achakpo, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been released from Kuje prison after two months of incarceration.
The musician’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, announced in a post on his official Instagram page on Tuesday evening that he was released after meeting his bail conditions.
“Delighted to announce that our client, Mr Darlington Achakpo, Aka Speed Darlington (Akpi), has regained his freedom after two months of illegal incarceration,” Alieke said.
He added, “Mr Achakpo extends his gratitude to everyone who threw in their support and special thanks to my colleagues, Mr Marshal Abubakar Esa, Barr Deji Adeyanju, Barr Hamza Nuh, Barr David.”
However, Alieke said the singer’s legal team would ensure he gets justice for the violation of his rights by the police.
“For the record, as his team of lawyers, we will be exploring every angle of the law to ensure that he gets justice for his fundamental human right, which was deprived of him by the Nigerian Police Force, and for the unfair/ unjust treatment he was subjected to,” he stated.
Also, Deji Adeyanju, a member of Speed Darlington’s legal team, announced on his X page, “Speed Darlington is out of Kuje prison.”
Speed Darlington was apprehended in Lagos in October following a petition filed by Damini Ogulu, popularly called Burna Boy, over allegations of defamation and cyberstalking.
In a video, he alleged that Burna Boy had an illicit relationship with American rapper P Diddy, who is facing criminal charges in the U.S.
Following the release of the video, Burna Boy filed a petition, leading to Speed Darlington’s arrest on allegations of defamation and cyberstalking on October 4.
Speed Darlington’s release comes six days after the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court granted him N20 million bail.
