Stakeholders condemn attack on Ebonyi revenue collectors

Euphemia Nwali, chairman, Ezza-South Local Government Area of Ebonyi, has condemned the attack on security operatives enforcing the e-ticket scheme of the state’s internally generated revenue service (IGRs).
Mr Nwali, in a statement on Sunday in Abakaliki, described the incident as wickedness to humanity.
Some hoodlums on Thursday attacked the e-ticketing team at Amudo Market in the area.
She pointed out that she would not tolerate such acts and would do whatever it takes for the perpetrators to be punished.
Also, Christopher Omo-Isu, executive chairman, State Board of Internal Revenue Service, expressed worry over the continued attack on staff.
“This appalling act of violence by hoodlums not only threatens the safety of our dedicated workforce but also undermines the progress we have made in implementing essential revenue collection systems.
“Our e-ticketing team plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with our tax policies and facilitating a transparent and efficient revenue collection process.
“Their safety and well-being are of the utmost importance. We stand in solidarity with our staff in all the 13 local government headquarters,” Mr Omo-Isu maintained.
