Star of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andre Braugher, dies at 61
Andre Braugher, the actor who portrayed Captain Raymond Holt in the hit comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine and as Detective Frank Pembleton in Homicide, has died after suffering from a brief illness.
Well-known for his distinctive deep voice and natural fitness, Braugher perfectly suited the law enforcement officer role and played the role perfectly in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
He was 61.
According to Enews, Braugher’s cause of death was a brief illness, but more details surrounding his passing are yet to be made public.
Born in 1962 in Chicago, Braugher made his screen debut in the 1986 movie ‘Glory’ where Union soldier in one of the American civil war’s earliest African American regiments alongside Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington, the movie went on to bag three Oscars awards.
He bagged two Critics Choice Awards for best-supporting actor in a comedy series during his career. He was also a four-time Emmy nominee for his performance as Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
