Sunday Times Rich List: PM Rishi Sunak, Gopi Hinduja’s family among UK’s wealthiest people
United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty grew their personal wealth by £122 million within the past 12 months, while King Charles III’s net worth rose by £10 million as the Sunday Times released the country’s list of richest families and individuals.
The Sunak family’s net worth was £529 million in 2023 but has grown to £651 million in the latest figures released on Friday. The family’s wealth, largely from his wife’s shares in Infosys, the Indian IT giant co-founded by her father, is now estimated to be at £730 million.
Last year, King Charles III ranked higher than the Sunak family in the Sunday Times’ richest list. The family leapfrogged the head of the monarchy in this year’s ranking as the King’s personal wealth only grew by a moderate £10 million from £600 million to £610 million.
Meanwhile, the Sunday Times has ranked the Gopi Hinduja family, with a net worth of £37.2 billion (industry and finance), as the richest families and individuals in the UK in 2024. Sir Leonard Blavatnik, with a net worth of £29.25 billion (investment, music and media), is second on the list.
David and Simon Reuben and family, with an accrued wealth of £24.98 billion (property and internet), ranked third. Manchester United’s co-owner and the CEO of petrochemicals company INEOS is fourth on the list, with an estimated net worth of £23.52 billion (chemicals).
