Super Eagles-eligible striker Samuel Edozie joins Southampton for £10 million

English Premier League club Southampton have completed the signing of Super Eagles-eligible youngster Samuel Edozie from Manchester City on a permanent deal.
The 19-year-old forward signed a five-year contract at St Mary’s in a deadline day move that will see Southampton pay up to £10 million for his service.
“Southampton Football Club has completed the signing of exciting young winger Samuel Edozie from Manchester City,” the EPL club announced on its official website. “The 19-year-old has joined from the Premier League champions on a five-year contract, finalising his switch to St Mary’s on transfer deadline day.”
Edozie, currently part of the England youth team setup, having played for the England U-18 and U-19 sides, is eligible to play for Nigeria’s national team thanks to his Nigerian father.
“I’m very excited. It’s a great club – a club that likes to play young players, so it’s a very attractive club to come to,” the footballer old Southamptonfc.com shortly after completing the switch. “I used to play with Roméo [Lavia] and Gavin [Bazunu], and they’ve both played a lot. So, it’s definitely something at my age in my career that I just want to play as much first-team football as possible.”
Edozie added, “If I’ve got a chance of that here, then it’s a great opportunity.”
The arrival of Edozie and the three other players, including Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Duje Ćaleta-Car and Juan Larios, rounded up the Saints’ busy summer transfer deadline day business.
