Suspected burglar nabbed in Anambra

An unidentified robbery suspect was caught on Sunday morning trying to break into the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) office in Awka, Anambra.
A security guard in the neighbourhood told journalists that he heard some noise in the NAN office around 6:00 a.m. When he peeped, he saw the man breaking the office windows.
He said he alerted other nearby guards, who caught the robber. When the suspect tried to escape, they held on to him and alerted the police at the Government House, Awka.
The police at the government house later alerted the NAN’s Anambra State correspondent, Joy Mbachi, who rushed to the office to witness the incident and alerted the zonal office.
Ms Mbachi reports that one of the security guard sustained minor injuries when the robber hit him with a stone while he was resisting arrest.
The state correspondent said she had officially reported the matter to the police, who assured her of their assistance.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Police B, Division, Awka.
The Anambra Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, promised that officers would investigate the matter immediately.
