SWAN asks Bauchi govt to probe alleged mismanagement of Wikki Tourists

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called on the Bauchi government to investigate the alleged mismanagement of Wikki Tourists Football Club and poor performances.
”SWAN is calling on the government of Bauchi state to, as a matter of urgency, launch an investigation into the management of Wikki Tourists football club,” said SWAN in a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Mahmud Yakubu and secretary, Bala Bawaji, on Tuesday.
The association expressed concern over the poor performances and the deteriorating condition of managing the club in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Football Professional League (NPFL) home and away matches.
“As a critical stakeholder in sports development, we have noticed the deteriorating condition in the club’s management, which is adversely affecting the club`s activities, both on and off the pitch,” the association stressed in the statement, adding that it is “worthy to note that the club is currently in the relegation zone, in 9th position with 12 points from 13 games in group B of the abridged League.”
SWAN urged the government to set up a committee of inquiry to investigate the club’s current management, especially players and technical crew contracts.
It condemned in strongest terms the actions of the club supporters after Sunday’s 2-1 home loss to visiting Bayelsa United FC. The association frowned upon the fans’ unruly behaviour, which it said was against the spirit of sportsmanship and development.
It commended the Bauchi government’s efforts to support the club and provide a conducive operating atmosphere.
