Buhari urged members of APC to remain united and consider voting the presidential candidate with the best chances of securing victory in the 2023 general elections.
“He has served as a lawmaker in the House of Representatives and Senate for 23 years since 1999. That is a lot of experience.”
When asked if the party had come up with a consensus candidate, Mr Kyari said, “The discussion continues tonight at the house of the party’s national chairman.”
Mr Shehu, however, said the president would back anyone chosen during consensus talks, notwithstanding the aspirant’s region.
The former Borno governor blamed the tough political season for his unsavoury remarks against the top government officials.
“I pray you get the ticket if I dont get it, because, you are eminently qualified to be President of Nigeria,” Mr Umahi said to the senate president during a visit on Saturday.
Mr Shettima said the name Ahmad Lawan sounds like the name of a tomato dealer “bringing tomatoes from Maiduguri.”
