Mr Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes; Asue Ighodalo of PDP had 247,274 votes, and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata garnered 22,763 votes.
He urged Mr Okpebholo not to gloat over his victory but to see it as a call to service.

Mr Obaseki and Asue Ighodalo separately stormed the state’s INEC headquarters early Sunday morning to protest alleged discrepancies in the voting process.
Elderly men and women were given priority to vote first before the youth when voting commenced.
“Any mistake you make will affect you first before others. You will be the first victim,” Mr Obaseki told the civil servants.
He appealed to media organisations and observers to abide by their codes of professional ethics and INEC’s regulations and guidelines during the election.
Anthony Aziegbemi, Edo PDP chairman, told journalists in Benin that the party lacked confidence in the REC’s ability to conduct the election without bias.
The NANS leader expressed satisfaction with the PDP manifesto.
