Students of the Federal University of Technology in Akure were protesting over ASUU’s 92-day-old strike.
The suspended chapter said once ASUU national lifts its suspension, the members will join the ongoing strike.
The joint protest had in attendance students from OOU, TASUED and FUNAAB.
The president also appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to consider the plight of students and call off the ongoing strike.
“We are all affected by the ongoing ASUU strike. But don’t allow it to derail you into criminal or antisocial activities.”
The ASUU president said the union won’t back down on its ongoing strike due to Federal Government’s failure to honour the 2009 agreement.
Chairman of the vice-chancellors committee, Samuel Edoumiekumo, in an interview on Sunday in Abuja, said both parties needed to agree to end the strike as soon as possible.
The union said its members are ready to return to their duty post as soon as their demands are met by the federal government.
“Since we cannot tell when the strike would be suspended, I will advise other students not to just sit at home doing nothing…”
