The protest took place at the Samaru Campus of the university on Tuesday in Zaria. Most of the entrances to the university were locked.
The union said the strike was suspended following the intervention of Gov. Hyacinth Alia.
The ASUU chairman said the scholarship award is an annual event to support indigent but brilliant students.
“Tinubu has done well as IPPIS was not favourable to the university system.’’
The awards, divided into national and branch categories, were presented at the institution.
“The budget proposed, which was 8.8 per cent, still fell short of the global education agency’s recommended 26 per cent expenditure on the sector.”
