Mr Hunpe stated that the empowerment was aimed at supporting 4,000 families with N100,000 each within 20 months.
Mr Hunpe, however, stressed that his decision was borne strictly out of the need for productivity, not ”the usual tradition or sentiment.”
According to him, Badagry is blessed with immense tourism potential.
“All you need to do is to come over with little money and buy food items at reduced prices,” he said.
The lawmakers said no constituency could survive with the over 100 checkpoints in their area.
Olusegun Onilude said the gesture was aimed at boosting and sustaining education in the council area by raising resourceful youths.
He noted that they further confirmed they were on their way to Mali when they were arrested by personnel on patrol at the Pashi checkpoint.
