Badagry LG boss distributes free GCE forms to 200 students

Badagry Local Government Area chairman Olusegun Onilude on Thursday distributed General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms for free to 200 indigent students in the area.
While distributing the forms at the council secretariat in Ajara, Badagry, Mr Onilude said the gesture was aimed at boosting and sustaining education in the council area by raising resourceful youths.
He said his administration was committed to the development and empowerment of youths of Badagry Local Government Area.
According to him, the forms will enable the students to take part in the forthcoming 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The chairman said that the act would help the students achieve their academic goals while reducing the cost on their parents.
Mr Onilude assured that education would continue to be his top priority, hence the distribution of the 2023 GCE forms.
“My advice to them is to ensure proper use of this opportunity by ensuring that they all pass their examinations.
“Our government will continue to do more for you if you make good use of this golden opportunity by performing well in the GCE examination, ” he said to the recipients.
The chairman encouraged them to continue to strive to get a better education and to be good ambassadors of the local government and Nigeria at large.
“I implore you to refrain from all forms of examination malpractice, l wish you the best, and l pray you shall all be successful,” he said.
Sewede Pot-Balogun, the Supervisor for Education, Badagry LG, said the aim of distributing the forms was to give succour to indigent parents, due to the current economic challenges in the country.
“It also explains the commitment and investment of our chairman in education, while ensuring that our youths are academically and morally sound, ” she said.
One of the beneficiaries, Senami Joseph, said the free forms she received had given her a chance to sit for the examination.
She commended the chairman for his kindness and promised to study hard so as to excel in the examination to make him proud.
