He said the approval covered several categories and that the payment was effective immediately.
Governor Babagana Zulum says his administration spent over N9 billion on scholarships for 32,000 students in one year
The Borno government has rolled out plans to sponsor indigent students wishing to study the Chinese language in China.
Mr Isa said the amount was N393.5 million for the monthly allowances of 1,088 students, which were N30,000 from January to December.
The executive secretary said the scholarship was part of Governor Babagana Zulum’s administration’s commitment to Borno’s 25-year development plan.
He added that the scholarship board’s website had been opened to receive applications between August 4 and October 30, 2023.
“The French language is very important to our people as Borno is bordering three French-speaking countries: Cameroon, Niger and Chad.”
