The governor’s aide urged the market leaders to identify the fire official(s) demanding money from them for the state government to take appropriate action.
He noted they were among eight others who died in the fire, which also left 13 others injured.
“Street trading remains banned in the state and anyone caught will face the wrath of the law,” he said.
Mr Oyeyemi noted that the suspects raided a phone and accessories market, Tarmac, in broad daylight on April 12 and killed one of the traders after carting away several highly-valued phones.
She said the cause of the fire incident, which started in the early hours of Tuesday, was still unknown.
A fire outbreak on Tuesday destroyed some goods in the shoe section of Balogun market, Lagos Island.
Mr Buhari said he sympathised with the traders and their families, ”who bear the brunt of this unfortunate incident and are at crossroads of what to do after this temporary setback.”
Emergency responders in Lagos are at the scene combating the fire but the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The reopening of the market has been shifted to January 11.
