The speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has appealed to Muslims to observe Eid-el-Kabir by praying for the release of kidnapped Oriire students.
The group described the attack as barbaric, wicked, and inhuman.
“Military operations are dynamic, intelligence-driven, and often evolve rapidly,” said The Nigerian Advocates for Peace and Stability.
The state police spokesperson promised to provide details of the incident later.
He said his administration also recognised that force alone cannot secure lasting peace.
He said 33 rustled cattle were also recovered from suspected terrorists.
The police said that two residents sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.
He said the attack occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on April 26, 2026.
Mr Oyedepo urged his members not to live in fear.
According to the minister, political actors are fuelling insecurity to score political goals.
