The Benue governor fired back at his Kaduna counterpart in a scathing statement on Saturday.
“We are doing something to ensure that we are not taken unawares, but our steps will not be discussed in the media.”
“What is happening now, to me, is very clear; Mr President is just working for these Fulanis to take over the whole country.”
Mr Ortom insisted, “Mr President must rise up. He is the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has taken the oath of office to secure and protect lives and property.”
“The Fulani Nationality Movement (FUNAM) carried out the attack. We have genuine reasons. We acted on behalf of millions of Fulani people in 15 countries.”
Mr Ortom was reportedly attacked on Saturday in his farm at the outskirts of Makurdi, the state capital.
A herdsman has “no option than to defend himself because the society and the government are not protecting him.”
The governor, however, stated he had no symptoms of the virus.
A garnishee order was enforced against the state’s liquid assets as part of an ongoing civil lawsuit instituted by 96 civil servants.
PDP governors were in Port-Harcourt to commission projects executed by the state government.
