Mr Edafe said that the hoodlums were nabbed on Sunday by a combined team of the police State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) and local vigilantes.
Police on Monday claimed they arrested two notorious cultists and seized ammunition along Auchi-Ekperi road in Edo.
The three men are Bamidele Ogundola, 36, Thomas Ayomide, 22, and Anjorin Ayodeji, 21.
The Black Axe defendants and other conspirators worked together from Cape Town to engage in widespread internet fraud involving romance scams and advance fee schemes.
The police spokesman said the suspect confessed to being a member of the Black Axe cult group.
