“Absolutely delighted to be appointed British High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Mr Vowles tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Mr Ikenya also called on state governments to double their efforts to complement the efforts of the president.
The envoy said that both Nigeria and the United Kingdom would need to step up their security independence.
“The UK is also supporting capacity building for Nigerian judges and prosecutors across.’’
“We are generally standing ready to work closely with the current administration,” he said.
“So, everyone of course wants this to end, but the UK position is clear. This has to end when Ukraine feels ready to end it.”
She said to overcome its current economic challenge, the UK was working harder to find new markets to reap from the benefits of Brexit.
“Well, we are here to support and help. We have the military team here.”
