The CBN had on Thursday directed all commercial banks to open for operations on Saturdays and Sundays to ease the naira scarcity.
The instructions come just a few days after the Nigerian Labour Congress threatened to picket apex bank locations over the persistent cash shortage.
“By the end of the year, we will scale up to one million farmers and another four million by 2024,” said CBN
He noted that despite the ruling of the Supreme Court that the old banknotes should remain legal tender till December 31, 2023, citizens are still faced with the scarcity of cash.
In January 2022, the former military dictator complained about ruling Nigeria.
The MPR is an economy’s baseline interest rate, upon which all other interest rates are based.
Although the CBN has reversed its policy by directing banks to accept the old notes, many Nigerians still find it difficult to find cash.
Mr Udoh-Tom appealed to political parties and their candidates to work towards achieving a peaceful election in the state.
Checks at different businesses observed that the old N500 and N1,000 notes were being accepted by traders as legal tender.
The governor said the appeal followed the CBN directives that banks should begin accepting and disbursing the old naira notes.
