Morocco’s withdrawal came in the aftermath of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final fallout with Senegal.
The 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Poland from September 5 to September 27.Â
CAF rejected Morocco’s protest to strip Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title, citing the Lions of Teranga’s decision to unilaterally leave the pitch before the game concluded.
CAF said it has referred the incidents from both matches to its disciplinary board after gathering match reports and video evidence.
The player described the decision as shameful.
Another Nigerian, Daniel Bameyi, the captain of the Under-20 national team, was also listed among nine other nominations for the 2025 men’s young player of the year.
CAF said the consideration for the awards nominees is for players who made major contributions to football on the continent from January 6 to October 15, 2025.
Super Falcons shot stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, is among nine others nominated for the women’s goalkeeper of the year.
“The quality and standard of women’s football in Africa are consistently improving and are world-class,” said CAF president.
He assured fans that any actions undermining these principles would be met with strict repercussions.
