Mr Obi, alongside other politicians and dignitaries, visited Mr Buhari’s home in Daura to condole with the family.
As part of the final honours, a joint military team rendered a 21-gun salute before the former president was interred at his private residence in Daura.
The motorcade with a hearse conveying the remains of Buhari departed the Katsina Airport for Daura, a distance of 88.6km at 3.15p.m.
The aircraft conveying the body of Buhari touched the ground by 1:50p.m. at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, Katsina.
The federal government declared Tuesday (today) a public holiday in honour of the late former president, who passed away on Sunday.
According to the vice-chancellor, the university is working with a Chinese company that is handling the institution’s construction.
Mr Faruk-Umar urged people to continue to pray for the president and respect political officeholders.
He revealed that 172 local government areas across Nigeria were affected by high rates of maternal and neonatal deaths.
He said the measure was aimed at boosting water supply and irrigation activities.
Some of the residents thanked God for bringing relief to them.
