The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) says the Blue Line rail resumed operations Sunday morning after Saturday’s fire incident
The federal controller of works said that the closure would be full at some sections of the bridge and partial at other sections
The Lagos government has announced that traffic will be diverted from the Eko bridge to facilitate emergency repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works.
He added that the minister inspected the bridges on Saturday alongside some directors in the ministry and contractors.
“We are hoping that those using the allocated space will keep to the guidelines and maintain sanity,” he said.
The closure followed a fire incident at the Eko Bridge in the early hours of Friday.
The Lagos government has announced plans to divert traffic at Ijora from Friday. It will also divert traffic at the Alakija intersection for repair works starting in September.
Residents said emergency responders were battling the fire as inflammable objects stored in the shops aided the spread of the fire.
Mr Oladeinde said the diversion would not affect cars inbound Apongbon from Alaka, but trucks will be restricted from plying the routes.
According to the police spokesman, the patrol is to be sustained beyond the ember months.
