Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has emerged as the new president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, replacing George Obiozor, who died last December.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo says it will petition President Muhammadu Buhari on the Igbo profiling in Lagos before, during and after the March 18 governorship election.
The affected officers are the National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, and National Organising Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu.
The statement comes a week after the Lagos governorship election, which was marred by voters intimidation, violence and ethic slurs.
The former president was speaking at the first year anniversary town hall meeting of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Awka on Saturday.
Mr Iwuanyanwu, an elder statesman, frowned at the “wanton destruction of lives and property” in the South-East geo-political zone.
“If you want to zone, we have six geopolitical zones in the country. Zone it along the geopolitical zones,” said Mr Iwuanyanwu.
Mr Iwuanyanwu said the organisation was determined to defend any of its members whose right and freedom is being unduly trampled upon anywhere in the world.
Mr Iwuanyawu said limiting the zoning of the country’s presidency to the north and south is vague and should therefore be discouraged.
