He said the projects included the Second Niger Bridge Access Road, Enugu-Onitsha Road, and the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
He blamed speed, route violations and loss of control for the crash.
“They were transporting them to the New Artisan Market, Enugu, for sale. They will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations,” the police said.
The Umuahia-to-Aba section, being handled by Arab Contractors, was “on track for inauguration in December”.
“I made a pledge before God and fellow countrymen and women to confront Nigeria’s challenges head-on.” said the president.
Ms Ugwu said the call had become important following Saturday’s fuel tanker fire explosion on the Ugwuonyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
The Enugu commissioner for works and infrastructure, Gerald Otiji, made the plea on Tuesday.
Mr Otti said, “Yesterday, I approved the contract for the reconstruction of the Enyimba-Ariaria Road in Ariaria International Market.”
He also said that the state government had begun the dualisation of Owerrinta-Umuikaa-Umuene-Umuoba Road.
Mr Umahi, who was in Aba to inspect the project, directed the security operatives attached to his motorcade to arrest the erring traders.
