NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said the drug organisations wanted to smuggle the alleged consignments to the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Italy, Poland, and UAE.
Mr Babafemi explained that the suspect was detained barely three weeks after the NDLEA launched a manhunt.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said the convicts were found guilty of trafficking cocaine and skunk worth over N4.6 billion.
He said the arrest followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance operations by the NDLEA’s Directorate of Intelligence operatives.
The four members of the drug cartel were declared wanted for their involvement in multiple drug trafficking activities.
Mr Babafemi stated, “The suspects, the skunk shipment and the van were immediately taken into custody.”
Mr Babafemi said that investigation showed that Mr Igbokwe who claims to be into cloth business at Arena, Oshodi area of Lagos, departed Lagos on January 22 to Addis Ababa.
Mr Babafemi also stated that another two suspects were arrested at Igbo Olumo, Ikorodu area of Lagos when NDLEA operatives raided their hideout in the community.
The NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said four suspects were arrested in connection to the illicit consignments in commuter vehicles.
House Committee on Narcotic Drugs chairman Abass Adigun assured of their commitment to adequate funding to enhance NDLEA’s operational successes.
