Mr Adejobi said eight BMW vehicles, suspected to be proceeds of the crime, were recovered from the suspect.
The prosecutor said that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2023 in Lagos.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant failed to remit the N1 million, which he allegedly converted to his own use.
The police prosecutor said that the defendants also assaulted the complainant when she asked for a refund of her money.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, says it has expelled 175 students for various offences.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Protesters took to the streets on Monday evening in the capital Nouakchott, the coastal city of Nouadhibou, Zouérat in the north, and Rosso in the south-west.
“The suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he said.
He said the defendant collected the money from the complainant, who lives in Dubai and happens to be her fiancé, to prepare for their wedding.
