The farmer, Yahaya Danbai, had overpowered and killed a terrorist who attacked him in his farm, and handed over the terrorist’s AK 47 to the village head.
Bandits are demanding at least N30 million after kidnapping 30 children in Katsina working on a farm.
The police said that the suspects confessed to have got their charms from a ritualist in neighbouring Niger Republic.
“The team engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them. The kidnapped victim was rescued unhurt,” said the police.
The prosecutor told the court that the convicts have been warned to desist from operating in the area, but they refused to comply with the order.
The suspect, Kamala Lawal, aged 33, was arrested in Katsina with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Aminu Umar, was the police Area Commander of Dutsinma. He was killed alongside a junior officer.
The constable was presented with a letter of commendation and N30,000 by the Commissioner of Police, Idris Dabban.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 21 at about 5:00 p.m. after a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, armed with AK-47 rifles, attacked the village.
Mr Isah disclosed that the command also neutralised six suspected terrorists and recovered AK 47 riffle, 110 cows and 242 sheep and goats.
