In a statement on Monday, the airline disclosed that the operations shutdown will be effective from Wednesday July 20, 2022.
“I pray you get the ticket if I dont get it, because, you are eminently qualified to be President of Nigeria,” Mr Umahi said to the senate president during a visit on Saturday.
Aviation fuel will be sold at the rate of N480 per litre to airline operators for the next three months.
The planned shutdown is due to an increase in aviation fuel price from N190 to N700 per litre.
The airlines said they have been subsidising their services in the last four months, so their customers can afford the fare.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, had announced April 2022 as the effective date for the take-off of the national carrier.
The National Union of Air Transport Employees and the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals had threatened to withdraw their services on February 8 (today).
The Daura Emirate Council, where Mr Buhari hails from, will on Saturday bestow the title; “Dan Amana,” (the trusted one) on Mr Amaechi.
