The Katsina State Hisbah Board has banned all nightclub activities across the state, citing Islamic principles and the need to uphold moral values.
The Hisbah commander-general said, “This is an achievement because we have succeeded in tackling the rampant cases of divorce in the state.”
The Yobe Hisbah command has arrested 14 suspects for alleged prostitution and dealing in hard drugs.
The police warned that thuggery and importation of thugs by any political interest group would not be tolerated.
The commandant general of Hisbah, Aminu Daurawa, told journalists on Tuesday in Kano that five other officers were also under investigation.
Sheikh Yakubu Musa, a renowned Islamic scholar, has called on the Katsina government to establish a Hisbah board.
The 25 ladies were nabbed during a ‘reap what you sow’ raid, according to Hisbah.
Hisbah has helped reduce alcoholism and prostitution in Kebbi, according to justice minister Abubakar Malami.
Hisbah said the suspects and items confiscated were handed over to the police for further action.
The sector commander said that the special patrol would also focus on public enlightenment, removal of obstructions on highways and stopping vehicle racing.
