It came more than two years after the infamous Internet fraud ringleader was arrested in Dubai in June 2020 for driving multiple schemes that targeted victims in Europe and the United States.
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, on Monday, refused to grant FG’s request to extradite the suspended DCP Abba Kyari to the United States.
Hushpuppi’s sentencing was earlier slated for July 11, and earlier on February 14.
The federal government has sought Mr Kyari’s extradition to the U.S. to answer an Internet fraud case.
Mr Kyari claims the request is racially motivated and pushed to punish him for his past crackdown on crime gangs in Nigeria.
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Wednesday fixed June 2 to hear the extradition suit filed by the AGF.
The so-called anti-corruption battle championed by EFCC chair Abdulrasheed Bawa is targeted mainly at “low-level” and “mid-level” fraudsters.
On Thursday, Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the suit after counsel for the NDLEA, Joseph Sunday, prayed the court that the matter be struck out.
The earlier report, traced to a purported American journalist Mathilde Bonnet, had said that fresh charges had been slammed on Mr Abbas.
