The police have commenced a statewide enforcement exercise against vehicles with covered, unauthorised or defaced number plates, as well as unregistered vehicles, from Friday.
The president has maintained in the last few months that state police are a necessary response to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Mr Adamu said his decision to leave the ruling APC was driven by alleged irregularities in the election.
“The restructured framework also harmonises key investigative and monitoring functions in line with the force’s reform agenda,” Mr Placid said.
“This proactive measure is in strict compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu,” said Mr Jimoh.
The Police Community Relations Committee has commended the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force for transparency in recruitment.
The officers have been directed to appear on Wednesday to face disciplinary action.
